How does rent-to-buy work for a delivery bike?

Otto’s rent-to-buy plan lets a delivery rider pay a fixed weekly amount and own the bike at the end, instead of buying outright or renting forever. It costs £99 per week for 31 weeks (around £3,069 in total), with the bike transferring to you legally once the final payment is made — no balloon payment, no credit check and no big upfront cost. Stop early and you simply return the bike with no penalty.

Throughout the 31 weeks the bike is treated exactly like a Short Rental: hire-and-reward insurance, GPS tracking, free servicing and same-day breakdown replacement are all included. It’s the middle path between renting and buying — flexibility now, ownership at the end.

Frequently asked

Can I rent to own an ebike or motorbike with Otto?
Yes — riders searching for rent-to-own ebikes or motorbikes are describing exactly this plan: fixed weekly payments on an electric moped or e-bike, and the vehicle is legally yours at the end. No balloon payment.
How does rent-to-buy work at Otto?
You pay a fixed £99 per week for 31 weeks (around £3,069 in total). At the end of the 31 payments the bike legally becomes yours — there’s no balloon payment and no final lump sum.
Is there a deposit or credit check?
Rent-to-buy takes a £400 downpayment at the start and runs no credit check. If you stop early, you return the bike and stop paying — no early-termination penalty.
What if I want to stop before the 31 weeks?
You can stop early at any time — simply return the bike and stop paying, with no early-termination penalty. You only own the bike once the 31 payments are complete.
Is insurance and servicing included during rent-to-buy?
Yes — while you’re paying weekly, hire-and-reward insurance, GPS, free servicing and breakdown replacement are all included, exactly like Short Rental.
Which bikes are available on rent-to-buy?
Most of the fleet, including the Askoll eSPro 70. Ask the team which models are currently on the rent-to-buy programme when you reserve.
