Do mopeds pay the London Congestion Charge?
No. Motorcycles and mopeds are exempt from the Congestion Charge, electric or petrol — TfL does not treat two-wheelers as chargeable vehicles. The charge rose to £18 a day for cars on 2 January 2026, and a moped rider pays none of it. The one exception is the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels, where motorcycles do pay a toll.
Do electric mopeds pay ULEZ?
No. ULEZ costs £12.50 a day for a motorcycle that fails the Euro 3 standard. Every Otto moped is fully electric and emits nothing at the tailpipe, so it is compliant by definition and pays £0 — anywhere in the zone, any day of the year.
Do electric bikes pay ULEZ or the Congestion Charge?
Neither. The ETT Trayser 2.0 and Cycl Carr-E are EAPCs — in law they are pedal cycles, not motor vehicles — so no road-charging scheme applies to them at all. No ULEZ, no Congestion Charge, no road tax, and no licence or CBT to ride one.
Is there road tax on an electric moped?
Fully electric motorcycles and mopeds pay £0 Vehicle Excise Duty. On a rental it is academic anyway: Otto is the registered keeper, so road tax, MOT and servicing are ours to handle and are already inside the weekly price. You collect the bike taxed, insured and ready to work.
What does it actually cost to run an Otto moped in London?
